Questions & Answers
Question : will taking tea out of the bags and making it like coffee taste the same or better than brewing tea in bags?
i have bigelow sweet dreams tea. but one teabags doesnt make much. if i take the tea leafs out of the bags and make it like coffee in a coffee maker will i get a stronger tea?
Answer:
If you brew tea in the coffee maker you will get tea that has coffee flavor. You can add additional tea to make stronger tea, but i would not recommend brewing it longer, it will get bitter from the tannins released.

Question : can coffee or tea bags or dog food be stored in mylar bags with oxygen absorbers for long term storage?
I can't find any information that is definite about being able to store the foods listed above in mylar bags for long term storage. Please don't answer unless you know for sure. thanks
Answer:
How long is long term?Roasted coffee goes bad no matter what you do to it. You can slow it a bit if it's nitrogen flushed, but you'll just get 2-3 weeks to become 1-2 months. Then it's stale & tastes bad (still safe). Green coffee can be stored for around 18 months, but it needs air so you can't store it as described. Fresh roasted beans release CO2, so storing in a sealed, unvented bag is bad for fresh coffee.Tea should be stored away from light & air. The bag would help for air. Loose tea, stored properly, will last up to 2 years. In one of these bagsDry dog food, like human food, shouldn't be stored too long without eating or throwing out. If you store it as described, I would expect it to last around 18 months as long as there's no moisture in the bag.The problem is that these items aren't meant for long term storage (esp. the dog food). The coffee needs to be stale before packing (CO2). It & the tea won't be dangerous, they'll just lose flavor. The dog food can be dangerous, though.

Question : Do tea bags and coffee grounds have any value in a garden?
Do tea bags and coffee grounds have any value in a garden?
Answer:
It's great for compost. Coffee grounds & tea bags add texture and acidity to your compost. They absorb and hold moisture which is so critical to the compost pile. This makes a great environment for worms. One study showed a carbon to nitrogen ratio of 25:1, which is the ideal range for composting. This article also states that: "Coffee grounds are NOT recommended for container plants because of their salt level."http://www.peets.com/who_we_are/community_soil.asp?rdir=1& If you don't have a compost bin or pile, you can just add some grounds directly to the soil of your plants before rain or watering, for a slow-release nitrogen. Or dilute grounds with water for a gentle, fast-acting liquid fertilizer. Use about a half-pound can of wet grounds in a five-gallon bucket of water; let sit outdoors to achieve ambient temperature. Great for acid-loving plants, such as azaleas, rhododendrons, and blueberry shrubs. Or mix with a little ground limestone for plants needing a neutral or alkaline soil. The grounds help loosen up heavy clay soil.Spread your old grounds around where you have ant or slug problems. Encircle the base of plants (like roses) with a coffee and eggshell barrier to repel pests.Robert Hollingsworth of the United States Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service in Hilo, Hawaii, " noticed that a 1 to 2 percent caffeine solution killed nearly all the slugs and snails within two days. Concentrations as low as 0.01 percent put the pests off their dinner. A cup of instant coffee contains about 0.05 percent caffeine, and brewed coffee has more."http://www.plantea.com/slug-baits-coffee.htmStarbucks claims most of the acidity is removed in the brewing process, leaving used grounds with an average PH of 6.9 and a carbon-nitrogen ration of 20-1.They commissioned a study in 1995 conducted by the University of Washington College of Forest Resources to better understand the make up of organic matter in coffee grounds and found the following: Nitrogen 1.45% Phosphorus ND ug/g Potassium 1204 ug/g Calcium 389 ug/g Magnesium 448 ug/g Sulfur high ug/g Notes: ND = indicates sample is below detection limit ug/g = microgram / gram http://www.ehow.com/how_2128557_use-coffee-grounds-garden.html

Question : Why don't they make Coffee Bags?
I mean, with Tea it's easy, but with Coffee there's either crappy Instant or all that faffing around with filters and machinery...In the absence of Coffee Bags, I'm just making it like instant and trying not to swallow the grounds at the bottom of the cup. What do you guys do?
Answer:
Lyons Coffee Bags are designed to be used just like tea bags, all you need is a kettle and a cup! Making roast ground coffee has never been simpler - no machine required - just add hot water

Question : Where can I get free coffee bean bags?
I'm looking for those fun and funky jute bean bags, and I can't seem to track down where people get them from. Are they leftovers at grocery stores? Do I need to go somewhere special to find some? Are they free? (please say yes, please say yes).Thank you!
Answer:
There is a coffee shop in your neighbourhood. Go and ask if they have any of those bags, and if you can have one or two (don't get greedy). They certainly can't refuse you. They don't really use them for anything else, and might give them to you, if they throw them out. Later, you can go and ask for a few more. You may have to ask at several shops, since not all of them carry or use beans in their shop.

Question : What is the Best Way to Make Your Own Coffee Single Bags?
Many people like the convenience of the new Folger's single serving coffee bags. They're great when you just want one cup and can be taken to work or used when going camping. Question : Does McDonald's sell bags of their brand of coffee? Or do they just sell the already brewed coffee?
Kind of how like how Starbucks sells bags of their coffee in grocery stores and Wal-Mart.
Answer:
As a Mcdonalds employee myself, we have sold bags of Coffee through the McCafe, though customers have to make the sale usually either through the first assistant or store manager. My manager told me that the McCafe coffee [the rainforest alliance coffee beans] isn't a very popular seller, so some Mcdonald stores may be different on prices, the quantity or may not even sell the bags of coffee at all. The easiest way to know would be to just pop down to your local Mcdonalds and ask for the store manager or maybe give them a ring. I'm sure they'll give you some good information
