Editorial Review :

The AeroPress is a completely new kind of coffee press that brews absolutely delicious, rich coffee without bitterness. In one minute, the AeroPress will make 1 to 4 cups of American or espresso style coffee. Coffee brewed in an AeroPress is rich but smooth for good technical reasons. The first and most important reason is brewing speed. Coffee yields its rich flavors quickly. From when you add hot water to when you are ready to drink, the AeroPress takes about 30 seconds, just like a fine espresso machine. The time required to fill a drip coffee maker pot or the steeping time required for a traditional coffee press is measured in minutes, not seconds, and because of that, they brew bitter, acidic coffee. When brewing coffee with an AeroPress, you use very hot but not boiling water, you use finely ground coffee, and the filter prevents any grit from getting into your cup, all of which are additional important reasons AeroPress brewed coffee is so remarkably delicious. The Brazil French Press coffee maker, designed in the early 80's, was our first coffee maker and quickly became a symbol of what Bodum stands for. Attractive and functional design at an affordable price. Editorial Review :

When Bodum took over a small clarinet factory in Normandy in 1982, it was not because of the fine orchestra clarinets they were producing but because of a relatively unknown coffee maker called the Chambord which they produced as well. The reason the French press coffee maker has become one of the most popular coffeemakers in the world is pure and simple, taste. The materials (glass and stainless steel) are completely taste-free so nothing comes between your ground coffee beans. This is exactly the reason why coffee tasters use this method to determine the quality of coffee beans. No paper filter not only means no waste, but that the coffee bean's essential oils go directly to your cup, delivering the flavor that is-lost on paper filters. Simplicity works best and is the reason why the Chambord's design has not changed a bit from its original drawing. Make taste, not waste.

Editorial Review :

The AeroPress is an entirely new way to make coffee, American style or Espresso style for use in lattes, cappucinos and other espresso based drinks. AeroPress brews simply delicious coffee, 1-4 cups per pressing. Ideal water temperature and faster brewing yields rich flavor with lower acidity and without bitterness. Other brewing processes use near boiling water and long exposure to coffee grounds. Quickly brew a variety of coffee drinks including an Americano or an espresso-style shot for use in lattes or cappuccinos. Its total-immersion system permits extraction at a moderate temperature and a short brew time. Water and grounds are mixed together for 10 seconds, then gentle air pressure pushes the mix through a micro-filter in just 20 seconds, which avoids the bitterness of long processes such as drip brewing. The air pressure also gently squeezes the last goodness from the grounds, further enriching the flavor. The total brewing time of only 30 seconds results in an exceptionally smooth brew.

Questions & Answers
Question : how are large amounts of coffee made using a French Press?
are there 12 cup or 20 cup french press machines? I know the 4-6 cup french presses are still fairly large.

Answer:
The largest FP I have seenis 48 oz. There arer several models to choose from. My favorite is at www.liquidplanet.com that size is sometimes called a 12 cup

Question : How can you clean a French press without getting all the coffee grounds in the sink?
I have a one serving French press that makes excellent coffee. I have been using it for a few months at work where there is a garbage disposal. I thought nothing of pouring the grounds in there figuring the disposal would take care of it. Well, it did not. In fact it caused a backup that affected the bathroom sink as well. They had to call Roto Rooter to get it cleared out and now I am afraid to make coffee at work. Since no filter is involved it's hard to get the granular coffee grounds out.

Answer:
coffee no make plug moron with cheese or rice did. you okay bebe yay you foundz me.

Question : How often do you change the filter on a French press coffee maker?
Got a French press coffee maker and I was wondering how often do you need to change the filter on that?

Answer:
when its clogged right up is pretty normal to change it i imagine like alot of tools!!!

Question : What type of coffee grind should I use with my French press?
Also what's the best way to brew coffee in a French press?

Answer:
You'll want a coarsely ground coffee. Make sure any coffee grinder you use is of excellent quality. If you have a very fine or a mixed size of grounds, then your coffee won't turn out so great. The finer the grind, the harder it will be to press down, the more cloudy your coffee will be, and the more sludge you'll have at the bottom of your cup.How to determine the coarseness of your coffee:http://www.ineedcoffee.com/03/coffeegrind/To find coarse-ground coffee, you can either go to a coffee store that sells beans and grinds them for you, or you can go to a large grocery store. Most have a coffee grinder at the coffee beans and you can choose the fineness of the grind there. Choose the most coarse grind. If you want to purchase a coffee grinder, the link below gives suggestions for choosing the best to suit your needs.Have fun!

Answer:

Question : why is it that most restaurants use commercial coffeemakers and not espresso machines, french presses, or any?
other type of way to prepare ground roast coffee? why is that? can a restauranteur tell me.........

Answer:
Because commercial drip machines are cheap and easy to operate, and easy to clean.

Question : Question about french press coffee makers: the coffee left in the french press is still brewing?
let's say you make a few four cups of coffee in a french press. I dispense a few cups, and have some left in the french press. If the coffee just sits there, it will continue to "steep" and get stronger..So your second cup of joe will be super duper strong. Should you dispense all of it so it all has a consistent taste? Thanks for answering.

Answer:
Yeah, the coffee on the bottom will continue to seep into the water. After brewing, I just pour the coffee into a different container so it doesn't get horribly strong

Question : comparing the french press and something called the aeropress coffee maker, which one will yield?
a richer, better tasting, stronger cup of fresh coffee? im sorry that im asking this question which may have been posted earlier in a somewhat different way but now its the french press vs. the aeropress coffee maker........ will the french press beat out the aeropress or vice versa in this case? can a truly serious coffee lover/expert please give me some insight?

Answer:
Both make good coffee, but the french press is simpler and easier to control the output. The aeropress is faster but, since you need espresso ground coffee and a filter, it involves more variables and expense.I like my french press much better since I can use regular coarse-ground coffee and make 1-4 cups with the same press. The aeropress is just one cup and then you need to reload with a new filter. Plus espresso ground coffee goes stale faster so you need to grind closer to brewing.

Question : How to make good French press coffee?
I love french press coffee but I've no idea how to make it.I bought a Bodum French press. How do I use it?Please bear in mind that I don't want to spend alot of money on equipment and expensive beans. And I also need to be able to buy the stuff easily. Like from my local Tescos.

Answer:
While you can brew anything in a French press, you won't get great coffee out of it without great beans. If you put nasty coffee in, you'll get nasty coffee out. What you need is coffee ground pretty coarsely. The instructions say to use the coarsest grind. I thought it worked better with the coffee ground to a percolator grind, but I'd suggest experimenting. Regular canned coffee for an automatic drip machine will not work. So you're going to have to buy whole-bean coffee and either grind it in the store or grind it with your grinder at home. You can get a cheap grinder for US$20 or less, but if you want a high-quality grinder expect to pay quite a bit more.Once you have your coarsely ground coffee, use the scoop to put coffee in the press (1 scoop per 4 oz of coffee - if you have a 16-oz press and want to fill it with coffee, that's 4 scoops). If you're picky about quality or just don't want it to cool too fast, pre-heat the press by pouring hot water in it. Then pour in water just off the boil, add the cover, and wait 4 minutes. Then press the plunger down and pour the coffee out. Let it cool (or not) and enjoy!

Question : How much coffee to use in a french press.?
I have a 12 cup french press I want to use for a dinner party. How much measured whole beans do I need to use for this?If you do not know the whole bean measurement, what is the ground coffee measurement?

Answer:
I use a French press every morning for my coffee. Actually, it has been suggested, and I've also read, that you need course ground coffee. Espresso is so fine that it might actually escape through the screen. I use 2 scoops of coffee for my 8 oz. container. For twelve cups, I would start of with 6 scoops and see how that turns out. Be sure to let it steep for at least 4 minutes and then slowly push the press down. Hopefully you will get the desired tan colored foam on the top. I think this is call "creama" and is quite good.
