Virtually unbreakable, this lightweight, vacuum-insulated thermos travels to work or recreation easily, and for hours afterward, coffee, tea, or broth will still be hot. Or lemonade, iced tea, or a sports drink will still be chilled. Tapered toward the top and slim enough (11 inches high, 3 inches in diameter at bottom) to safely pour with one hand, it slips into a briefcase or backpack. Pouring is a snap--twist off the cup, which holds 6 ounces of liquid, twist the stopper a few turns and pour through a no-drip slot (there's one for righthanders, another for lefthanders) without removing the stopper. Fine threading ensures the stopper seals tightly, while the exterior has a handsome satin finish. Question : I want to use a thermal carafe on my coffee maker instead of the glass one-is this possible?
I have a Cuisinart Brew Central 12-Cup Coffee Maker and it only stays on for 2 hours from brew time. some days my husband wakes up 4 hours before me and I am left with cold coffee. I want to get a carafe and saw that cuisinart makes coffee makers that come with a thermal carafe. Is it possible to buy a replacement carafe for that model and use it with my coffee maker (it has the hot plate on the base)? Or am I better off buying just a seperate thermal carafe to have him pour the hot coffee into? Any suggestions on a good brand? Thanks!

My coffee pot just croaked so I tossed it, and just kept the thermal carafe. I bought a new cheapo one for 9.99 with just a glass carafe until I can decide what kind I want. When I make coffee in the glass carafe, I pour boiling water into the thermal carafe, and let it sit for five minutes to get the carafe hot, then I pour the coffee in it IMMEDIATELY because letting coffee sit on the hotplate to keep it hot for even 15 minutes RUINS the taste. You'll just have to a google search for your brand of coffeepot, and see if you can get a replacement thermal carafe. In the mean time, you should tell your husband to just make enough for him, and let you make yours later. I wouldn't want coffee that had just been kept hot 30 minutes on the warming plate. Yuk!

Under $80 would be ideal, thank you.No bells, whistles or timers, not preheated or continuously heated water, no grinder. Just pour the water in, turn it on, and coffee comes out at 200 degrees.

if you want to spend a little more Bunn makes an excellent coffee maker, that will brew a pot in three minutes. I am so happy with mine. I think it was around $120.00. but worth it

Also very good, and I actually prefer it because it doesn't have it's own grinder attachment (I don't like combination devices), Capresso ST600.The key to brewing good coffee is the brewing temperature. Most cheaper brewers do not heat the water to 200 degrees. I have a double lined carafe and it stays cool to the touch even with boiling hot liquid inside. It can keep a pot of coffee hot for 24 hours. I would have to guess that yours isn't double lined.

drop a couple of denture cleaning tablets into it and leave overnight, just empty and rinse the next day and it should be good to go. We have always used this method and if it is not completely clean, just repeat the process

Alot of the stainless steel carafe coffee pots I checked out don't have a warmer underneath. Also the coffee pots that you put your coffee cup right underneath all have mixed reviews as to how long they work. I just want to find a decent coffee pot that keeps the coffee hot

I think an insulated carafe keeps it hottest without continuing to cook the coffee...I hate coffee that's been heated for hours.

I have a coffee maker with a thermal carafe and I don't reccommend them. The weight of the metal in the carafe cools the coffee down too much and there is no heater in the base to keep the coffee warm. So when it brews you end up with a pot of somewhat warm coffee. You have to heat the metal pot up with warm water before the brew. On mine there is a special screw down top on the carafe which makes cleaning it harder and you have to have tightened down to get it under the filter. The coffee maker won't work without the top on because of a no drip valve under the basket. I ended up ripping the part out since I didn't like dealing with the lid.

Question : Cuisinart Grind & Brew Coffee Maker - Sub a Glass Carafe for the Thermal Carafe?
I bought this for a Xmas gift for my sister. At times, she will prefer a Glass Carafe for when she only makes 3 cups and wants to see whats left. You can't see whats left in the Thermal one. I don't see any reason why she can't use either. Does anyone know for sure?

She can absolutely get a glass carafe to replace the thermal one. In fact, I've linked to the replacement glass carafe. She'll need to buy this real Cuisinart-brand replacement glass carafe because it has the specially-designed lid to push up on the little button that allows coffee to freely pour from the brew basket.The only minor down side is that, since the Grind & Brew comes with a thermal carafe, it doesn't have a warming plate on the bottom to keep the carafe warm. This won't cause any problems with making the coffee or using the machine, it just means her coffee will cool down after a while...not a huge deal breaker or anything.Other than that, if she buys this glass replacement carafe, she'll be fine.
