Questions & Answers
Question : How do I make my thermoses stop making my water taste like plastic?
I usually take a thermos to bed with me every night because I get really thirst. And most thermoses come in plastic. I mean those mugs with the snap on lids, not those huge ones with screw on lids you take on picnics.I don't want to use a glass because the ice melts quickly.Anyways, my water usually ends up tasting like plastic.

Answer:
Plastic leeches into whatever is being stored in it. There is a numbering system of plastic bottles...1 leeches the least and obviously the higher numbers leech the most. This is bad for you.Go to the store and purchase a high quality thermos that offers a leech proof barrier. They will plainly state they do not leech. There is also a Swiss company that sells one. Either way you're going to pay about $13-15 dollars for it.If you're getting that thirsty during the night, I would also suggest you get your blood sugar tested. That is an early sign of diabetes.

Question : what is a good name for a company that makes thermoses?
give me something originaland has to be in french

Answer:
Keeping it Hot or Vacu-temp

Question : How to remove coffee stain from rubber stopper on thermos lid?
I have a couple metal thermoses with rubber stoppers that keep the coffee from slipping past the lid to leak. Any ideas on how to remove the stains? I've tried scrubbing with salt, & soaking in boiling water with lemons.

Answer:
Soak them in boiling water with baking soda. I have a Stanley thermos that was badly stained. I filled it halfway with boiling water, added 3 Tbsp. of baking soda, let it sit for about an hour, and it looked brand new. Hope this helps.

Question : Why do thermoses have a silver lining ? What does color have to do with keeping things hot / cold?
I am in a physics class, but it is hard for me to understand that color, especially if it is dark like the inside of a thermos, makes a difference.

Answer:
heat travels by conduction, convection, and radiation.a true thermos (brand) container has a double walled inner flask, with a vacuum between the walls. the vacuum prevents heat transfer by convection, and the construction of the thin walls minimises conduction. The reflective coating is to prevent heat transfer by radiation. Photons of infrared light (heat) are reflected rather than passing through the walls.

Question : what materials do thermoses use to keep their contents warm?
science pjt.

Answer:
most thermoses use a) a vacumeb) styrofoam, the molecules are widely spaced so the vibrating molecules don't trnsfer theier energy to surrounding molecules easily.c) I'm sure now days other materials are usedbut in short, the older kind like grandma used to cary used a vacume vessel on the inside

Question : Thermoses: they keep hot things hot and cold things cold; How do they know?
How did thermoses get so smart?

Answer:
Ahah!! New show.... " Are you smarter than a Thermos?"

Question : Need single serve coffee maker that fits travel thermoses?
All of them i found are too small. I want one that can fit a tall starbucks travel thermose

Answer:
well then determine the capacity of the thermos you are trying to fill, and then search for one that makes that much. Use google if you need to.

Question : if i am testing 2 thermoses to see which one is better, what should be the controlled variables?
if i am testing 2 thermoses to see which one is better, what should be the controlled variables?

Answer:
The temperature difference between the inside & outside of the thermosflask.

Question : If I have two thermoses, how do I know which one is a better heat insulator?
Does size matters?

Answer:
pour hot water in both of them and take temperatureseal them up for 3-4 hours; open and take temperaturethe one that has retained the most heat will have the higher tempsize probably matters at some level, but size of thermos is based on how much you want to carry; if the thermos is not filled, it will lose heat faster, since the unfilled portion contains room temperature airthat is, 2 cups of coffee in 2 cup thermos will stay hotter than 2 cups of coffee in 3 cup thermos

Question : You know how thermoses have a vacuum? If you break a thermos, would the world be sucked into nothingness?
You know how thermoses have a vacuum? If you break a thermos, would the world be sucked into nothingness?

Answer:
That vacuum is nothing more than a minor difference in air pressure. (I'm assuming...I've never heard of a thermos with a vacuum inside.) That's like arguing that anytime someone drinks through a straw, we should all disappear.
