Question : Shelf/Drawer Liner on Kitchen Countertops?
The small apartment that I'm moving into has a kitchen countertop that has been painted over with oil paint (as far as I can tell). I was going to repaint it myself and cover it with acrylic polyurethane but I'm not really comfortable that it would be durable and I doubt it would be foodsafe. I'm considering using shelf or drawer liner instead. This may sound foolish to ask, but is there a good way to go about doing this? I don't feel that the adhesive on the back of the liners would keep it down long. Is there something that I can use (a coat of glue or paint) that would hold it down. I also don't want to have a hard time in the future being able to get it off if I need to. Thanks for any ideas provided.
Answer:
They have those sticker granite looking counter top covers it has adhesive on the back you just lay it down and smooth it out and it will peel right off if you ever needed to take it off. Home depot i think has it or any hardware home improvement stores.

Question : Non toxic, non PVC (polyvinyl chloride) shelf liners?
I am looking for some Environmentally Friendly shelf liners for my cabinets in my kitchen and bathroom.I have been searching places like Longs Drugs, Target, Rite Aid, for shelf liners. They onlly have the rubber "non-stick" kind, which I found was made of PVC which is very toxic. This is the stuff that some kids' toys are made of (slinky, etc.) The Contact Brand ones are made of that PVC foam stuff and the other ones available are made of some plastic (which I'm not sure is recyclable). It is called Ribbed Shelf Liner Plast-O-Mat by Warp Bros. http://www.organize.com/plastomat125w.htmlI guess wrapping paper might work, but I'm looking for something that goes with my decor (red or at least a design that looks good), and I'm not even sure wrapping paper will hold up. I think paper towels are to flimsy.I'd appreciate any ideas that have worked for anyone.
Answer:
Use thick, lint free, fabric. When it get dirty, throw it in the washer.

Question : What materials can be used as shelf-liners?
I'm looking online at "decorative self-adhesive vinyl contact papers"I'm working on a decorative wooden storage box; I want the inside to be lined with a self-adhesive pattern. It doesn't need to be waterproof, but I don't want it really easily marked. Will these products work? (the decorative self-adhesive vinyl contact papers)
Answer:
Yes, it will probably work, but they do peel off kind of easily. How about wallpaper? You can use spray adhesive to get it to stick, if it isn't already pre-glued. I find the wallpaper holds up much better. gl!

Question : ideas for shelf liners?
ideas for shelf liners?
Answer:
I have never been thrilled with regular shelf liners. I use gift wrapping paper or tissue paper covered with clear adhesive backed shelf liner. Cut decorative paper to fit, then cover the decorated side with clear vinyl and recut if needed. I also do the backs and sides of my cupboards and drawers in all rooms that have them that way the pretty papers can be seen, not just set upon. At christmas time I switch to holiday papers.

Question : Can I use bug killer treated shelf paper in my pantry with canned and boxed foods?
I bought some shelf liner at the store and just realized I bought the kind that is treated with bug killer. The instructions are kind of vague about whether or not it can be used in a pantry.
Answer:
If the shelf liner does NOT specify that it is safe for pantry shelves, then I would not use it. Note: It might be okay to use in a pantry that contains canned food only, but I would definitely not lay my boxed item on it. :}

Question : What is good shelf liner for sealed wood cabinets?
We have new cabinets-some with glass doors and some with wood. What should we use AND what should we avoid?
Answer:
I particularly like the "no slip" kind. They have them in inexpensive rolls at harbor freight. You may not like them for your glass doors, as they are not "designer" attractive, but for functionality they are great.

Question : Where is a good place to get adhesive shelf liners?
I just got a dresser and chest of drawers. I need several rolls of contact shelf paper, around 18' x 50'. Where is a good place to get it at wholesale price? I checked online, but I can't find anything less than $65 plus shipping. Is that about how much it costs? What do other people do for dresser drawers, etc? Thanks.18" x 50'. Thanks for paying attention and the many answers.
Answer:
Try WalMart...or Target.

Question : what is the purpose of shelf liner?
i have always put shelf liner in my kitchen cupboards. what really is the purpose?
Answer:
The main idea behind the invention of shelf paper is sanitary: it can protect certain types of wood from damage. Now, whether or not it really is sanitary, I would say it depends on the paper type. Some papers can in fact attract insects that love paper and glue (if you're using adhesive paper). Also, some food items do get underneath the paper, even if the paper has been attached to the surface with glue. Some papers do provide protection for surfaces. If you place wet glasses or dishes on wooden shelves, eventually, this will warp the wood. It will also stain your wood.If you're thinking of removing your shelf paper, consider painting inside your shelves with oil paint, which will give you just as much protection (if not more, since food won't get under it) and it isn't affected by water. If you have melamine shelving, the only place I would recommend shelving paper is in the shelf where you keep your pots and pans and other metal objects that can ruin your nice cabinets with metal scrape lines.
